Album Review

Five years after he "retired" with the album Emeritus, Scarface returned to the game with Deeply Rooted, an album that touches upon the man's beliefs with the key cut being "God." "Rooted" and the single "Mental Exorcism" (only available as a bonus track on some editions) support this theme but "Dope Man Pushin'" bangs hard just like the old days, while "The Hot Seat" argues that if being a gangsta is hard, being an aging gangsta is even harder. Rick Ross, Z-Ro, John Legend, and Cee Lo Green join the veteran on this satisfying effort.
